I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! I was definitely lucky to spend mine with family in the beautiful state of Washington. I headed up there late on Thursday night after a delayed flight and almost not getting a seat due to the airline overbooking the flight. After sleeping in on Friday, my aunt and I drove to the town over to pick my brother up from school and we spent the rest of the evening hanging out, catching up, and listening to the rain! We headed to bed rather early because my brother had a kite-boarding lesson the next morning. We started the day off with a community breakfast that the town puts on once a month (people were so friendly!) and headed over to the Oregon side of the river to Hood River. Side blurb – I truly adore the town of Hood River and if anyone is looking for serene views, water activities, and gourmet food spots, Hood River is your place. It was terribly windy out on the sand spit so we only spent a bit of time out there while my brother had his lesson. There ended up being so many people out there kite-boarding and it was so much fun to see everyone zipping back and forth on the water. I would definitely give it a try on a warmer day! We headed home after that to rest before birthday dinner. Birthday dinner celebrated my brother turning 14 and I have to say, he’s growing into quite an adventurous teenager. We ate at a restaurant called Solstice that was so freakin good that I still daydream about it. I ordered the pizza special, which had figs, pancetta, feta, and balsamic reduction. My brother ordered his favorite (awesome choice), which had ham, pineapple chutney, and a jalepeño cream drizzle. I mean, common, take a look at those pictures…am I right?! We also had an adorable dinner neighbor! We passed on dessert because my aunt had made her chocolate stout cake (so rich yet so heavenly) and we had presents back at the house. On my last day we decided to take the boat out on the river. It was a beautiful day and I was really excited to try and get some action shots of my brother wake boarding. It was a bit windy so conditions weren’t perfect but it was a lot of fun! Unfortunately towards the end we lost the flag to the river and had to head back a bit earlier than planned, which worked out for my nap plans. The rest of the day consisted of a dinner in the town over for Mexican food, multiple card games, and leftover cake. A special thanks to my Aunt and Uncle who went well out of their way to make my trip so wonderful and fun, you guys are the best! And to Cole: you still remain my most wonderfully favorite brother!

Loved reading this and seeing your pics....camera seems to be working well. Especially loved having you here this weekend, and if someday you settle in Hood River or Portland, that will be fantastic! In the meantime, will look forward to hearing and seeing updates of your adventures in Spain. See you for a quick down and back this weekend before you're off....lucky me!
