I made it! 2 flights, 1 train ride, and 1 tuna fish sandwich later I had fallen asleep only to wake up at 4 am. due to jet lag. My friend Kasia is studying in Lyon for the year and she lives in an apartment right on the river. The views are fantastic! We got up and out around 10 am. and walked to a farmers market to pick up some fruit before heading to a café for some coffee. It is definitely different from the U.S. in that the cup size was extra small and the coffee extremely strong. It came with a croissant though, which was the best part! We then walked up to a basilica with amazing views of the city! Everywhere I looked it kept getting better and better. After some journaling time at the ruins of an old Roman amphitheater, we grabbed a baguette sandwich and ate by the river. We then stopped for some groceries before stopping home for a much needed nap! The grocery store was amazing! So many cheeses for so cheap! I ended up buying some Camembert for a bit over 1 euro and a bottle of wine for 4 euros! All in all a good haul. Around 7 we headed out for dinner and found a Japanese noodle shop. It was pretty good and the soup filled us up on a cold night. The plans are for some tea and a movie and eventually, bed!
